Abstract
This paper concerns frequency functions of filters with timelimited impulse responses. Both discrete and continuous data versions are included. For the most part, phases are linear, but advantages of certain nonlinear phases are also noted. Reference [1] is applied to obtain simultaneously Chebyshev stopbands and maximally flat or Chebyshev passbands. Reference [1] is quite different from the optimization techniques usually applied to circuit design. In these applications, it yields computer programs simple enough for the HP65 pocket calculator, although more appropriate for calculators such as the SR59 or HP67 or 97.
