Abstract
A practically oriented design project recently incorporated in an undergraduate power systems course is described which is believed to have a significant positive impact in power engineering education. Details are provided of some concepts which are not adequately addressed by most textbooks such as optimum generation resource mix. An improved technique for inverting matrices is also given
