  • Abstract
    A travelling salesman type genetic algorithm is used to optimise the order of low-order sections in cascade fixed-point FIR filters. Compared to a classical ordering algorithm, this more flexible approach gives improved frequency response for a fixed wordlength, and also highlights optimal wordlengths
