Abstract
The noise properties of two-dimensional (2-D) recursive digital filters, caused by finite register lengths, are considered. A combined error model is proposed, which takes into account three sources of error; roundoff accumulation, coefficient quantization, and input quantization. A statistical approach is used, in the space domain, which allows the computation of the statistics of the errors at the filter output.
