P.M. Roget: some electrical connections

Roget´s name is associated with the famed Thesaurus. Much less recognised is Roget´s professional career in medicine and the sciences, not least those relating to electric and magnetic phenomena. He was Secretary of the Royal Society for many years and his contemporaries included Michael Faraday and Charles Babbage, with whom his relations were not always amicable. This article highlights the `electrical connections´ against the general background of his life and includes a description of his own contributions in this area
