Abstract
The global positioning system (GPS) today is the only totally functioning global navigation satellite system. Nearly 50% of businesses that use GPS technologies cite a reduction in transportation travel distance by an average of 231 miles per week, saving nearly US$52,000 in annual fuel savings. This is according to a Motorola, Inc. survey of those in the transportation, manufacturing, and trucking/warehousing industries [1].
