Abstract
This paper deals with the prediction of magnetic field distribution for the disk type permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM). The open-circuit field distribution is predicted using a two-dimensional analytical solution derived in terms of magnetic vector potential. The slotting and skew effect is considered using the relative permeance function. The results are validated extensively by finite element (FE) analyses and measurement.
