Abstract
Energy economics through the use of adjustable-speed drive types such as eddy-current, adjustable-frequency, and dc can justify equipment replacement. Energy considerations for fans and pumps are reviewed. Techniques for determining and optimizing energy economics are given. Various systems are evaluated, and typical savings are given. Monitoring energy is a key for system optimization.
