Abstract
Selective superconducting magnetic separators require carefully adapted magnetic forces. The evaluation of the force profile from theory and from model experiments is discussed. A straightforward first-order design of the corresponding superconducting winding is explained and demonstrated by a design example. The superconducting winding structure for the required force profile can be found with the help of INFCAL and CUMMAFD
