Abstract
The theoretical analysis of a modified Pound stabilizing system having a path difference between a reference plane and the frequency determining resonant cavity n¿/2 greater than that required by the usual Pound system shows that the error signal amplitude produced by a small change in the resonant frequency of the resonant cavity is a factor (4n + 1) greater than that of the normal system. A Pound circuit using this principle has been used in the construction of a microstrip microwave radio refractometer which exhibits the change of frequency predicted by the theory.
