Abstract
Measuring the level of liquid in a container plays an important role in various process industries. This paper introduces the design and implementation of a novel approach using the container itself to determine the level with just one piezoelectric transmitter, one piezoelectric receiver and an interfacing microcontroller. The system was successfully tested and evaluated with different tanks and shows a simple, efficient, low cost, non-destructive and non-intrusive sensor to monitor continuously the fluid levels. The measurement results are analyzed and discussed.
