Abstract
Recently, it was shown in a theoretical study that a linear relationship between the gain at two different signal wavelengths of an erbium-doped fibre amplifier (EDFA) exists. This statement is valid for an arbitrary distribution of the inversion along the erbium-doped fibre (EDF). These theoretical results are verified experimentally. A good agreement was found between theoretical predictions and measurement results, showing the validity of the theoretical model
