Abstract
The authors discuss the problems of predicting propagation losses occurring for more than 0.1% of the time, for satellite links with low elevation angles in the 20/30 GHz band. Results using simple algorithms taking into account the effects of cloud and rain attenuation, gaseous absorption and scintillation are presented.
