Abstract
Substrate materials for optical disks such as polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), polycarbonate (PC), epoxy resin, and ethylene copolymers are reviewed and discussed. The fundamentals of optical properties of high polymers are related to their structure. Particular attention is paid to properties such as transparency, double refraction, water absorption, heat resistance, and moldability.<>
