Abstract
The dimensionless solution to the heat conduction equation allows the calculation of temperature increase in tissues exposed to nonionizing radiation. The solutions may be reduced to a small number of tables, eliminating the need to solve the equation for each new exposure condition or different tissue. Optimization of parameters and parameter identification is much easier in dimensionless form than in standard dimensional solutions. Multilayer and multiple wavelength source effects may be calculated using the dimensionless model.
