Abstract
The factors that lead to motor failure are considered, and an analysis of those components most affected by insulation design is presented. The insulation design factors considered are: enclosure, rotating elements, electrical winding, materials, and the manufacturing processes used. The selection of proper insulation to protect the winding from premature failure for round-wire random windings is discussed
