  • Abstract
The use of automated mapping/facilities management at the Detroit Edison power company is discussed. Faster operating and specific extraction software was needed to increase the processing capability of the graphic system. Run times of this specific software were measured against existing generic software. Several graphic and facility products were produced under controlled conditions to substantiate the results. Results confirm that investment in custom software for a specific purpose has the potential of being very cost effective and productive
