Abstract
Batch rekeying has been used for improving the group rekeying efficiency in a large-scale group communication. However, there exists a tradeoff between the number of rekeying messages and the degree of data confidentiality by the influence of the batch rekeying interval. Thus, batch rekeying interval should dynamically be configured for the efficient group rekeying. To dynamically configure the batch rekeying intervals, we propose a new batch rekeying scheme, where the total rekeying cost per unit time is minimized. From evaluation results under various parameters, it is shown that the proposed batch rekeying scheme reduces the total rekeying cost per unit time by more than 50%, compared to the periodic batch rekeying scheme.
