Abstract
We propose and demonstrate a novel approach to real-time interrogation of a high-birefringence linearly chirped fiber Bragg grating (Hi-Bi LCFBG) for simultaneous measurement of strain and temperature based on chirped microwave pulse compression with increased resolution and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). A theoretical analysis is developed, which is validated by an experiment. The experimental results show that the proposed system can provide a resolution better than ± 1.2 °C and ± 13.3 με at an interrogation speed of 48.6 MHz.
