  • Abstract
“Are you being served?” No, this is not a manuscript for an old British television sitcom, but it is the universal question that the AP-S Administrative Committee (AdCom) constantly asks the members of our Society. Of course, the answer is not always forthcoming, so we take a universal engineering approach by looking at the statistical history of the Society. The data comes from the IEEE and from our own files, carefully compiled by some of our committee Chairs. I´ll spare you the details, but the answer to the universal question seems to be, “I get some general advantages by belonging to the IEEE, but yes, I belong to the Society because of some particular returns on my investment.” In order of popularity, these “particular returns” seem to be the journals and the conferences.
