  • Abstract
Ever since the inception of storage batteries, users have been confronted with the task of ascertaining what type of cell to choose from the myriad of designs available. From the introduction of storage batteries during the mid-1800´s until the present time, battery technology has evolved to a more sophisticated level. A great deal of this evolution has occurred during the last 25-35 years. This paper reviews stationary battery products in general, and examines what is available to the user. The information provided will enable more effective selection of cells suited to the specific needs of the installation.
