Abstract
The authors suggest in the Introduction that, for large supplies of electrical energy, an accurate estimate should be made of their cost to the supply authority, so that comparison can be made with the actual charges, to check the accuracy of the tariffs. A scheme is outlined for ascertaining the true cost of supply, which claims to take into consideration such difficult factors as diversity, power factor, etc. The type of metering equipment for obtaining the necessary measurements of the true cost of supply is discussed, together with the points to be considered in measuring maximum demand and power factor. Finally, a new type of kVAh meter is described and its performance, in practice, is given.
