Abstract
Novel space vector PWM control strategies are presented which closely approximate the exact switching angles produced online for the harmonic elimination PWM (HEPWM) strategy. The paper investigates 0-60° and 0-90° switching angle solution sets for the HEPWM strategy and proposes novel regular-sampled HEPWM strategies for the real-time calculation of these switching angles. These novel regular-sampled HEPWM strategies are further developed into a space vector modulation (SVM) HEPWM technique. It is shown that the harmonic elimination PWM strategy can be closely reproduced using the same equations for the vector times developed from the conventional SVM strategy, together with a special vector switching sequence unique to the HEPWM strategy. Experimental and computed results are presented for comparisons between the 0-60° and 0-90° SVM-based HEPWM strategy in terms of total harmonic distortion and harmonic spectra to highlight the advantages of each strategy and confirm theoretical developments
