Abstract
A new discrete sampling based pulsewidth modulation (PWM) strategy is presented which closely reproduces the characteristics of analogue hysteresis band modulation. This sampling based strategy does not require the solution of nonlinear transcendental equations, which are characteristic of the analogue method and therefore limit its application. Hence the switching angles can be calculated online and the method is inherently suited to a digital signal processor (DSP) implementation. Both simulation and experimental results are presented to confirm the validity of the theoretical analysis
