IEEE 896.1: the Futurebus

Futurebus is a fundamentally different kind of backplane bus. The current design, started in 1982 and completed in 1987, is the work of a multifarious team of skilled and innovative experts from a wide spectrum of commercial corporations, academic and government institutions. Recently adopted by the IEEE as a formal standard, the Futurebus has now begun its inevitable rise to prominence in high- performance multiprocessor systems, both in research and commercial projects
