Astables and sequential logic circuits

Many science courses now introduce ?electronics?, including work on digital logic gates. This work is then extended at GCSE level to include combinations of logic circuits leading to an understanding of bistables. However, it is usually left to more advanced physics or specialist electronics courses to explain the operation of astables and other sequential logic circuits.
