  • Abstract
A comparison is made of Elmore (1948) and traditional rise times for a cascaded linear network. It is shown that the customary application of the square-law relationship, derived by Elmore, to traditional rise time evaluations leads to a significant error. The analysis is applied to the case of a circuit under test, followed by a measuring instrument, usually an oscilloscope.
