  • Abstract
A new type of wavelength selective optical receiver that allows the demodulation of multi-gigaHertz frequency modulated (FM) optical signals is demonstrated by detecting FM light-induced changes in the forward voltage of an optically injection-locked distributed feedback semiconductor laser operating at far above the lasing threshold. A bandwidth as wide as 2 GHz is reported together with an FM demodulation efficiency of 52 mu V/GHz.
