  • Abstract
    The drift velocity ω of excess electrons as a function of the applied electric field E in liquid 2,2-dimethylpropane, tetramethylsilane (TMS), tetramethylgermanium, tetramethyltin, and 2,3,4,4-tetramethylpentane (TMP), and in mixtures of TMS with TMP (mole ratio M=1.31/1) and n-pentane (M=102/1, 17/1 and 5.6/1) has been measured for E-values to ~1.4×105 V/cm. The thermal electron mobilities, the maximum measured ω, and the corresponding (maximum) E values for these liquids and mixtures were, respectively, 71.5, 119.3, 114.7, 85.7, 31.8, 39.1, 118, 85, and 47.6 cm2/sV; 3.3, 7.2, 7.4, 6.0, 2.6, 3.2, 6.8, 6.8 and 4.9×106 cm/s; and 116, 125, 109, 75, 115, 105, 105, 145, and 145 kV/cm
