  • Abstract
The authors have demonstrated the simultaneous operation of self-starting additive pulse mode-locking and optical fibre second harmonic generation of an Nd:YAG laser resulting in picosecond radiation at 1.06 μm and 532 nm. The IR pulses were measured to be 5 ps in duration and the green pulses are expected to be approximately 3.5 ps due to the nonlinear interaction. Effects of self- and cross-phase modulation on the conversion efficiency are discussed
