Abstract
The authors propose a 1×2 wavelength-selective switch in which each selected channel signal bypasses its associated channel selection device. Experiments using an 8-channel 10 Gbit/s wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) signal show that this configuration results in high filter performance with a crosstalk value of >38 dB, a flat passband as wide as the channel spacing, and satisfactory among-channel insertion loss uniformity with a ripple of no more than 0.1 dB
