Abstract
The authors describe the extraction of 40 Hz burst EEG activity in the face of electromyogram (EMG) noise. Extraction is done using time- and frequency-domain analysis, with a neural network to automate the task. The data are then analyzed using chaos theory to show how the 40 Hz activity can be used to recognize differences in cognitive states
