Abstract
Three transmission systems, vying for selection as the US standard, are compared. The sound quality will have to be comparable to that now transmitted by FM radio stations. The stereo-TV transmission standards are proposed by the Electronic Industries Association of Japan, Telesonics System Inc. and the Zenith Radio Corp. All three basic systems have undergone extensive testing by the Multichannel Sound Subcommittee of the Broadcast Television Systems Committee in the US Electronic Industries Association (EIA). The six performance objectives set by the EIA are given.
