Abstract
This document proposes guidelines and definitions for approach distances for contacting conductors, parts and structures, involving the safe use of a helicopter to position a worker to work on energized and de-energized overhead lines using live-line work methods. This paper will serve as a basis to establish a guide for the use of a helicopter when performing work on electric overhead lines. Two known support systems are covered by this paper. Other support systems must provide equivalent protection. As methods, other than those included in this paper may be developed, they should be thoroughly reviewed, before implementation, by qualified professionals knowledgeable in the industries involved
