Abstract
A mutually coupled switched reluctance machine (MCSRM) comparable with interior permanent magnet synchronous machines (IPMSM) and conventional switched reluctance machines (CSRM) have been designed for hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) applications. The MCSRM can utilize the standard six switch inverter. The designed MCSRM is capable of wide speed range operation and has power and torque densities comparable to IPMSM and CSRM.
