Recent developments in transforming apparatus

In this paper an attempt will be made to outline as concisely as possible a few of the developments in transforming devices that have taken place during the last year. Some of these we are perhaps already familiar with, while others may present new ideas or well known principles applied in new ways. At all events, it is hoped that a brief review of the work may prove of some interest. Naturally the first subject which suggests itself is the one which deals with some of the largest apparatus built, so that a short review will be given of the steps which have led up to the later designs, with special reference to features which make the building of large transformers possible.
