  • Abstract
MAJOR EDMUND LOUIS GRAY ZALINSKI, U. S. A., retired, widely known in military circles, and a veteran of the A. I. E. E., died of pneumonia at the New York Hospital on Wednesday, March 10, after an illness of several weeks. Major Zalinski was taken ill last January, and about the middle of that month was admitted to the hospital. He was born in Kurnich, Prussian Poland, December 13, 1849. His parents came to this country when he was four years of age, and settled at Seneca Falls, N. Y. When the civil war broke out he was attending the Syracuse High School, and it was during that period that he conceived the idea of a military career. Owing to his youth he was obliged to continue at school for the first few years of the war, when he was brought to the attention of General Miles, who took him on his staff as an aide.
