Abstract
BNFL has been producing fuel to supply British and overseas nuclear power stations for over 40 years. The Thorp complex provides Britain with a world technological lead in what will be a key area of future energy supply. The author gives an operational overview of the plant discussing the following aspects: the feed pond, head end plant, chemicl separation plant, distributed control system, and waste management.
