  • Abstract
    A hybrid procedure is presented that combines the least-squares finite element method (LSFEM) and the transfinite element method for analysing microwave circuits. The benefits of the LSFEM for modelling the interior region of the circuit are combined with those of the transfinite element method to effectively couple the fields to semi-infinite port regions where the scattering parameters of the circuit are to be determined. The validity and efficiency of this new technique are demonstrated.
