Abstract
The impact of nonlinear crosstalk in 0.8 nm-spaced 40 Gbit/s DWDM systems using single mode fibre (SMF) and slope-compensating dispersion compensating fibre (DCF) is investigated. The penalty due to nonlinear crosstalk was found to be as small as 1 dB even in 16 channel transmission over 1500 km
