The mutual impedance of earth-return circuits

Formulae are developed for the mutual impedance of two finite-length earth-return circuits, either parallel or at an angle. The new formulae are shown to be generalizations of the Carson-Pollaczek formula and of the more recent work of Carter. Numerical results are compared with calculations performed by the methods at present recommended by the Comité Consultatif International Téléphonique.
