  • Abstract
A medical devices directive is due to come into force in Europe in June 1998. Manufacturers and suppliers of wheelchairs will have to comply with this directive to make their products available on the European market. European standards for wheelchairs are being written to help people demonstrate compliance with the directive. This article summarizes the content of these standards and how they are likely to be implemented.
