Abstract
Investment appraisal is an essential, and integral, part of the process of specifying a CADCAM system. This paper shows how the problems of evaluation can be overcome, and lists of the main areas of costs and savings are provided so that companies can identify their own requirements. The effect of expanding CAD into CADCAM is discussed, and it is suggested that CAD and CAM have to be dealt with separately
