Abstract
In this letter, an integrated tower-type sensor (TTS) to be embedded in concrete system for permanent monitoring the service condition of reinforcing steel was developed, such as the macro-cell current, the cover-zone mortar resistance, the open-circuit potential, and the corrosion current density of the build-in sensor electrodes. Sensors have been tested in chloride-contaminated concrete, simulating a kind of marine circumstance. By analyzing the sensor output, a quantitative relationship among the macro-cell current, the cover-zone mortar resistance, the open-circuit potential, and the corrosion current density was established.
