Abstract
Parallel processing is being increasingly looked to for cost-effective solutions to complex computational problems. Image processing often generates these due to the large amount of data required for images. The transputer provides a relatively cheap and increasingly available, parallel-processing solution. A transputer array is used to solve a specific image processing problem and the steps taken to optimise the performance are described
