Abstract
This paper presents a general technique to analyze thermal field of the induction motor which has air ducts in stator and rotor core as forced cooling channels. The thermal network method (TNM) is used to model the motor. To deal with the forced cooling problem, the computation program is composed of both coolant network and noncoolant network. Since these two networks are coupled with each other, they should be solved iteratively. The proposed method is applied to a 5 Hp induction motor and the calculated results show very good agreements to the experimental data
