Abstract
Guided wave one-to-two- and one-to-four-way splitters designed for operation at wavelengths in the region of 850 nm fabricated in K/sup +//Na/sup +/ ion-exchanged glass are discussed. The devices have been characterized, and the split ratio has been found to be wavelength and polarization insensitive over a bandwidth exceeding 200 nm.<>
