Abstract
This article proposes deadzone-constrained pruned tree-structured vector quantization (DCPTSVQ) which is suitable for transform coding of image or speech. DCPTSVQ applied to transformed signals considerably improves the rate-distortion performance with remarkably reduced codebook storage when compared with conventional PTSVQ.
