Abstract
An explicit code-division multiple access/packet-reservation multiple access (CDMA/PRMA) protocol is proposed in response to the disadvantage of the conventional CDMA/PRMA protocol, the permission probability of which estimated from the channel access function limits the access efficiency when the overall system load remains low. The proposed protocol is shown to yield improvements at the expense of introducing an explicit slot assignment mechanism
