Energy Challenges

In 2003, CalPortland decided that it was going to make energy efficiency a priority and would develop a comprehensive energy management program. Since the formation of the energy management team in 2003, the company has saved more than US$12 million, significantly reduced its emissions, and improved its relationships with its local communities. CalPortland has also won several local, state, and national energy awards, including the prestigious ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year or Sustained Excellence Awards for six years in a row. The company´s energy management program has become a core value within the company and provides a tremendous source of pride for company employees.
